Our mission is to help develop an active and independent media working to international standards and to report on events in the region without bias or favour. We also publish Belgrade Insight and Prishtina Insight, the only English language newspapers in their respective cities.</p> <p>The chosen candidate will: <ul> <li>commission and edit news stories covering politics, business and social issues</li> <li>liaise with BIRN&#8217;s busy bureaux across the region</li> <li>develop ideas and novel approaches to our Balkan-wide online reporting</li> <li>have the skills to process work quickly and efficiently, particularly breaking news stories</li> <li>supervise and maintain the news section of Balkan Insight, and the country-based websites of our regional teams</li> </ul> <ul> <li>manage and mentor our extensive pool of remotely-based correspondents</li> </ul></p> <p>This is a highly demanding post, which requires flair, imagination, bags of enthusiasm and a proven ability to work against the clock without ever losing your cool.
