World Market Intelligence (WMI) is looking to recruit a highly experienced senior economist to lead one of its new emerging market economic services.

Reporting to the Head of Economics, you will be able to make a significant immediate contribution to WMI’s economic research, developing macro-economic insight that will help our clients make informed business and investment decisions. You will lead a small team of economists to produce timely analysis of economic data releases, policy and events and their impact on financial markets, commodities and industries.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities attached to this role include:

Identify economic issues to be analysed in each publication and brief your team of economists and analysts

Requirements

Assistant editor/features writer

Editor
Minimum 18 months experience, looking for your next move in magazine journalism – keen to take ownership of titles and the responsibility that comes with it.

About the roles
Working with the managing editor to plan and manage editorial content in a portfolio of publications. With strong titles in business management and the public sector, across both print and digital platforms, our roles offer an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced, interesting editorial team. This will include writing and editing a wide range of articles ranging from news analysis and business management articles to features and interviews, research pieces and some commissioning. You will work to maintain and strengthen our magazines’ position as the leading, agenda-setting titles in their sector.

Delivering focused, original and cutting edge editorial has been the cornerstone of our success, so the ability to grow and develop the editorial content of the magazine is a must. An enhanced digital presence for 2012, to include blogs, daily news and comment pieces and sticky content in the shape of competitions, giveaways, and lifestyle articles is at the top of our agenda so confidence in writing across both print and digital platforms is essential.

About You
Our roles are both fast moving and varied, so you need to be excellent at working under pressure and to very tight deadlines, as well as being a fast learner, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for doing things well is essential. You will have tenacity and a real nose for news, be able to tackle complex issues and present them well, have first-class writing and interviewing skills and a proven writing ability. You’ll be a positive, outgoing person with a can-do attitude, able to instigate, develop and keep good relationships with sector contacts. It is also important that you have a strategic mind and are keen to work in business-to-business publishing. Excellent communications skills are a must, as you‘ll be expected to work in a small, busy team, in a sometimes pressured environment. Experience of, or working knowledge in and of our sectors would be a bonus, but not essential.
