HRzone.co.uk editor, full-time maternity cover,
HRzone.co.uk is one of the UK’s leading online sources of information for the human resources community. We are looking for an experienced and highly-motivated editor for maternity cover on HRzone.co.uk.
Reporting directly to the managing editor, the applicant should have an outgoing and flexible personality and be familiar with the major issues which affect the HR community.
The editor will be responsible for supplying and managing a wide range of editorial, including blogs, webinars, audio visual content, user generated material, resources, research, and tools to promote community engagement. They will also be responsible for creating the HRzone.co.uk email bulletins; managing the site, with a constant eye on site analytics, to create a must-visit destination; and identifying and developing new editorial opportunities and products.
They should have wide experience of using social networks and ideally be able to create and edit content in a variety of media, including audio and video.
The editor will also be required to represent HRzone.co.uk at frequent internal and external events and to create and exploit opportunities to meet with the community at every opportunity. They will also be required to attend events and client meetings at short notice and travel extensively and to liaise on a daily basis with both sales and marketing.
You will need to have the following:
• A knowledge of issues relevant to HR professionals
• Understanding and experience of using social networks
• The ability to create and edit audio and video content
• Sound commercial acumen
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong organisational skills
• Ability to develop productive working relationships with sales and marketing
• Ability to utilise clear and concise written communication at all times
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• To initiate, write, and supply editorial content including blogs, webinars, audio visual content, user generated material, resources, research, and discussion groups
• To work with and facilitate the HRzone.co.uk community to create greater engagement, higher open rates and increased click throughs
• To experiment with and adopt new forms of editorial content and delivery methods
• To assemble HRzone.co.uk bulletins, and to experiment with a range of delivery models, including layout and frequency
• To source, liaise and manage external and internal contributors
• To liaise daily with the sales department and to attend both daily, weekly and monthly editorial meetings in the Bristol office
• To attend regular meetings both with clients and contributors as required by the heads of sales and editorial both at the Bristol office and at client sites
• To attend all major external and community events
• To promote opportunities to meet with the community
• To work with an editorial board to gather feedback and create new opportunities
• To help monitor the site for comments and member activity and act as appropriate
• To monitor the editor@ email and deal with enquiries as appropriate
• To identify potential campaigns for HRzone.co.uk to champion, to position the site as a voice for the community
Maternity cover to start 21st September 2009, fixed contract full-time, Monday-Friday 9-5.30.
